A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the onset of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, provided by a local firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to open the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and cafecito as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
