Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Matchup With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden World Series since 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the ALCS.

Down three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for our team, the city, our country," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I want up in that spot except for him with his post-season brilliance," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their performance throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of the series," he added.

Toronto's team won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
