Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems
Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland found themselves without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, producing powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, around one thousand energy customers in the southern state also encountered energy failures after Melbourne saw its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to 598 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At the height on yesterday, more than 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both states.
Health Warning
Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
