When Michel Illouz gradually progressed through the throngs beneath the Mediterranean pines and date palms at the burial ground in Ra'anana, a community located approximately 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv, he thanked people to numerous participants as he could.

Guy Illouz, a artist and recording specialist, had been struck from behind at the Nova concert event during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. "So I found myself this morning, driving to Abu Kabir identification center to identify you and say goodbye. They unveiled the shroud, and the initial sight I noticed was that familiar expression, that optimism, that calm demeanor and grace that so defined you."

"I reached out, tried to smell you, tenderly touched all areas in your body. I looked at you, I was alone with you, and yes, I felt with absolute certainty that it was you. Yes, I know, Guy-shuk, that you've rejoined our family. You've come back to your loved ones' arms, to all your friends, and to the countless people whose feelings your story affected."

Family Strength

Throughout the beginning phase of the service, Illouz had dedicated all his efforts on comforting his smaller offspring. He gently touched the locks of his female children, held his son, showed affection and maintained composure for them. But then his voice broke.

"I will long for so much journeying together through this land, experiencing your company, listening to your compositions, relaxing in mountainous areas and activating the stove to make coffee the way only you mastered – 'Dad, do you see the coffee foam? You have to heat it slowly, let the foam rise, then boil it again. Mix the beverage with circular motions' – and then your smile while enjoying the drink and your enjoyment in every individual sip."

"Before I left Abu Kabir today, I fulfilled my commitment. I gazed upon you, breathed you in one ultimate occasion, and yes, I kissed you on the forehead. I was managed to observe your attractiveness even in the situation in which you came back."
