Combatants chuckle as they ride on the bed of a pick-up truck, speeding past a line of multiple corpses and moving facing the descending African evening sky.

"See all this effort. Look at this instance of genocide," one cheers.

He smiles as he directs the camera on his own face and his companion combatants, their paramilitary badges visible: "The victims will all perish in this manner."

The combatants are rejoicing over a atrocity that humanitarian officials fear claimed the lives of more than 2,000 individuals in the Sudanese city of el-Fasher last month.

An Urban Center Severed from the World

After maintaining the community under encirclement for approximately 24 months, from the summer the RSF moved to strengthen its dominance and restrict the remaining civilian population.

Space-based imagery show that fighters began to build a massive earth barrier - a raised dirt embankment - encircling the edges of the city, closing access routes and blocking humanitarian assistance.

During the encirclement intensified, multiple civilians were killed in an militia assault on a place of worship on 19 September, while the United Nations said fifty-three additional were killed in unmanned aircraft and heavy weapon attacks on a makeshift community in fall.

Disturbing Recording Depicts Defenseless Individuals Gunned Down

At dawn on 26 October the RSF conquered the last government strongholds and seized the primary base in the urban area, the main facility of the 6th Infantry Division, as the army pulled back.

Among the most graphic videos to surface and analysed depicted the aftermath of a massacre at a campus structure on the western of the city, where dozens dead bodies were seen spread throughout the area.

A senior individual clad in a white tunic was seated isolated amongst the corpses. He turned to look as a combatant carrying with a firearm moved along the staircase in the direction of him. pointing his firearm, the shooter discharged a solitary round at the man, who fell to the ground still.

"For what reason is this individual yet alive," one fighter exclaimed. "Shoot this one."

Space-based imagery taken on late October indicated to verify that killings were also conducted on the thoroughfares of el-Fasher, according to a report published by the academic research center.

One eyewitness who spoke reported the individual had seen "many of our kin getting massacred - the victims were gathered in one place and all killed."

RSF Commanders Try to Conduct Reputation Management

In the days that followed the atrocity, militia chief acknowledged that his fighters had committed "atrocities" and announced the occurrences would be looked into.

Among those arrested was after a investigation documenting his executions. Carefully choreographed and modified recording published on the militia's formal social media account show him being escorted into a cell at a jail on the perimeter of the city.

Meanwhile, the militia and associated digital profiles commenced trying to alter the account.

Updates depicting its combatants handing out aid to residents were circulated by some accounts, while the paramilitary's media office shared multiple videos allegedly to demonstrate the humane handling of military detainees.

In spite of the digital effort being deployed by the militia, their conduct in the city have generated global condemnation.
