The network's Top New Show of 2025 Secures a Significant Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

During the fall season, Adult Swim saw the return of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the channel launched a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often defined by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and supported its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family navigate their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running layer of irony. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to experience the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
