The President Calls Families of Injured Military Members to the White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.
He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Tragic Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their honor.
White House Offer
The president stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Community Response
Attendees gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of her previous school, stated to the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to assist people.”
Funeral details for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event led the administration to halt asylum applications and cease granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi informed the program that she also intended to meet with the family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, per the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
