The United Kingdom is set to progress with using the total value of immobilized Russia's assets to bolster Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the decision would be executed in tight collaboration with the America.

United Kingdom sanctions have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, funds sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had only been drawn from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to drive progress toward using the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He stated that additional measures over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This announcement is subsequent to European representatives met in Copenhagen last week to consider using seized Russian assets for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump called on international partners to take or employ frozen Russia's funds, according to news outlets.

The total of immobilized Russia's funds in the European Union is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky calls on Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the weapons procurement program

Moscow carried out widespread aerial attacks across Ukraine on Friday, causing electricity outages in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

Several persons were killed and no fewer than 20 people were hurt in the attack, authorities in Ukraine said.

In a post on X after the strike, Zelensky stated that the cynical and calculated attack focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not mere statements but decisive action - from the US, Europe, and the seven nations - in delivering defense mechanisms and applying penalties," he stated.

"Every sanction decision weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed media outlets he would encourage Sir Keir to join the Purl programme, under which Nato countries acquire arms from the America to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the UK's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the program, as well as impose more measures on Moscow.
