The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a vehicle crash in California at the age of 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company that he helped create.

The celebrated industry figure died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to.

"This is an unimaginable loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
